Saint Luke Church
International Dinner Reservation
What is the “International Dinner”?
In short, the International Dinner provides an opportunity to share the various national heritages of our parishioners and to sample the cuisines of many nations. Because of space limitations in the Parish Center, we limit ourselves to eight cuisines. The task involves devising a complete menu (main course, accompaniments and dessert – appetizer optional) that represents the foods of a particular country. The menu items chosen must be capable of being served in small, sample size portions. (We’ll go over the math for figuring this out at a later date.) The groups are also responsible for decorating their serving table in keeping with the national theme. EVERYONE CAN HELP!: Other tasks are those of staffing the beverage tables and decorating the Community Room with a Mardi Gras theme, hospitality (taking dinner tickets), and “auxiliary”– whatever is needed as the night goes on.
At the International Dinner itself, each participant may sample any or all of the cuisines presented; you will not be limited to the one that your group has prepared. A door prize from each national table and a raffle can also add to the evening’s festivities.
Who can participate? – All adult parishioners of Saint Luke Parish are invited. Due to the limitations of space, only 176 tickets will be sold.
How much does it cost? – Tickets will cost just $30 each – a real bargain, when you consider that you get to sample a complete dinner menu (including desserts) of any or all of the different countries with wine and beer included in the price and entry into the drawing for door prizes representative of the cuisines being served. (Should there be any monetary “profit,” the proceeds will be used exclusively for programs that feed the hungry poor.)
I can’t cook!!… Can I still help?
ABSOLUTELY!! WE NEED YOU! We’ll be grateful for all the helping hands we can get! There are many more tasks to be done; We need: decorators, greeters and ticket-takers; kitchen help to oversee the incoming food and making sure it’s properly warmed in the ovens; help with the coffee service, etc. We also need extra help with some of the cuisine tables.
