    Welcome!

LATEST UPDATES:

SISTER DOROTHY CHOYCE RSM — Last week we reported to you that Sister Dorothy hasn’t been feeling well.  She was, in fact, in the hospital for a few days in July with rather painful back and disc problems.  She has now gone to a rehab facility for therapy and rest.  While she is grateful for your concern and especially for your prayers, she has asked that there be NO VISITORS and NO PHONE CALLS so that she may truly get the best rest and recuperation that she needs.  Those of you who wish to send a greeting card may address it to her c/o Saint Luke Rectory and we will see to it that she receives them promptly.

Unfortunately, we have some further sad news to share with you in Sister Dorothy’s regard.

Given her current physical condition and her years of service, her superiors have instructed her to retire from her position as Pastoral Assistant here at Saint Luke.  I can’t begin to describe what a loss this will be in the life of our parish, as she has touched the lives and hearts of so very many families by her ministry through the years.

She has agreed that when she feels up to it, probably sometime in September or October, she will come to a farewell and thank you reception.  We’ll keep you posted.  In the meantime, please pray for our parish as we work on determining the best way to carry on her ministry.

Our annual PARISH PICNIC takes place on Sunday, September 12 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 pm on the rectory back lawn.  Great food, fun and friends!

We need lots of willing hearts and hands to help make the day a fun time for everyone.  Look for the sign-up lists soon to be posted on the hallway bulletin board and let us know how you’ll pitch in for this great community event to kick off our parish year!!

LIFE AT SAINT LUKE — We have begun to compile a multi-media presentation of our parish life and activities.  All parishioners, all ages, are asked to contribute something to the movable wall that is on display in the Community Room — family photos with captions identifying the members; artwork, parish memorabilia, a notecard or piece of paper on which you complete the sentence: "Saint Luke Parish is special to me because..."

C'mon.... get in on the fun as we get to know one another!!
